The build team were struggling with the level of costs and confusing array of options originally proposed.

We designed a new technology solution presented in a jargon free report, clearly laying out our recommendations for the build team to make informed decisions. The alignment of the design with the budget significantly increased the levels of equipment and features on the vessel compared to the original proposal, and generated a substantial reduction in costs.

The client requested the best internal and external cinematic experience on a superyacht.

We designed two worlds’ first technological innovations. The first innovation, a 201” retractable exterior video wall with the lowest pixel pitch available at the time of delivery. The second was an IMAX private theatre incorporating Dolby Atmos for the best audio experience possible.

The result was an interior and exterior movie experience never seen before on any superyacht, setting a new benchmark within the industry.

The client requested the entire technology infrastructure be contained in a single area to maximise space on the vessel.

We designed a whole technology solution in partnership with Eidsgaard, incorporating all the main technology systems into a single centralised media room including 4K-distribution and audio chain installation within performance limits using no extenders.

The result was the removal of a large amount of unncessary equipment from many of the owners and guests rooms, allowing a cleaner design, more space and simple functionality.

The client asked us to design the luxury areas technology infrastructure, which was to be segregated for owner and guest use only, operating independently from the rest of the vessel’s IT and crew systems.

We worked closely with the Owner’s family and their support team to create a technology system onboard that helped make the vessel feel “truly incredible and special” for them.

We conducted a full assessment of the ‘off the shelf’ technology package originally proposed. We then worked with the client’s team, designers and engineers to enhance the package, improving the technology whilst staying to the original budget.

The overall result was design alignment agreed with all stakeholders. This gave the client a significant increase in the levels of technological equipment, features and quality without changing the interior or exterior designs of the vessel.

Largest External Superyacht Display

2016 - 2019

Working with C’Seed, manufacturer of the world’s largest folding TVs we were able to integrate their 201” product into the structure of a new build vessel. The resolution of the display at the time of order was not sufficient for the client’s needs, due to the relatively small viewing distance.

SMART worked with C’Seed to design, engineer and produce a product that, at the time of install, was the world’s smallest pixel pitch outdoor HDR compatible panel at just 2.5mm as well as being fully suited to the marine environment. The incredibly tight tolerances and bright display make it a pleasure to watch, even in full daylight.
